Mirzapur Season 3: Everything You Need To Know

The Mirzapur franchise has been marked as one of the most promising web series filled with lots of crime thriller experience. The show is set in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh and revolves around the throne of Mirzapur.

The first installment of this series was released on November 16, 2018. After this, the second season was released two years later on October 23. Both seasons received a mixed response from the audience and the critics. Interestingly, many believe that the Mirzapur series is also one of the major reasons behind the success of Pankaj Tripathi.

Given the critical acclaim, the series was renewed for a third season. As Mirzapur season 3 makes it way to the OTT, here’s everything that happened in the last two seasons.

What happened in Mirzapur season 1?

The series features Pankaj Tripathi as Akhandanand “Kaleen” Tripathi, along with Ali Faizal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi. Besides them, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, and Shriya Pilgaonkar have also played pivotal roles in the series.

The first season began with Kaleen Bhaiya calling up two Pandit brothers—Guddu and Bablu, who is a college student. He used them to grow his trade of arms and drugs. However, Munna Tripathi, son of Kaleen Bhaiya, is not pleased with this decision. He felt excluded from his family after his father recruited Guddu and Bablu to supervise the weapons.

Later, this exclusion converted into revenge. Munna Tripathi wanted to take down his father’s kingdom along with his new recruiters. He desired to take over the gaddi (seat) and wanted to become the king of Mirzapur.

While pursuing his dream of the Mizapur throne, Munna also planned to kill his father. To keep his father from finding out this, he blamed this murder attempt on Guddu. Meanwhile, Munna loved Golu’s sister, Sweety, but she had an interest in Guddu Pandit and became pregnant with his child. However, Guddu took excessive steroids to showcase his body cuts in bodybuilding competitions.

On the other side, Munna didn’t want to miss any opportunity to kill both brothers on sight. To execute his plan, he started a bloody massacre at a wedding where he brutally murdered Guddu’s brother, Bablu, and his pregnant wife, Sweety. After this incident, bodyguards present at the wedding aimed at Munna. Taking this opportunity Golu, Guddu, and Dimpy escaped from the wedding place. Here, season 1 ended.

How did Mirzapur season 2 end?

Mirzapur season 2 resumed the storyline of season 1. It began with the aftermath of Munna’s wedding massacre. The first episode kicked off when Munna Tripathi lied on the hospital bed. Meanwhile, to save his son from prison, Kaleen Bhaiya threatened everyone at the wedding to find the person who took the blame for the wedding massacre.

The story unfolded when Golu tried to heal the injuries of Guddu and planned revenge against the Tripathi family. They made several attempts to take down the Kaleen Bhaiya’s empire. Golu tried to convince Tripathi’s rivals and also teamed up with Kaleen Bhaiya’s wife, Beena, for the final blow against Tripathi. On the other side, Munna married a widow and was ready to claim the Mirzapur throne.

In the climax, Munna confronted his father, Akhandanand Tripathi, to step down and offer him the gaddi (seat) of Mirzapur. Akhandanand agreed with Munna’s decision. However, in the end, Guddu and Golu reappeared and initiated an open fire to take down Tripathi’s empire. This epic shootdown resulted in Munna’s death in front of his father, Akhandanand/Kaleen Bhaiya.

This happening set the plot for season 3. The upcoming season will reportedly follow the story of the last season. The shooting for season 3 has already been completed. However, there has no specific date has been announced yet. To experience the third season, fans will have to wait until further announcement.
