Malaikottai Vaaliban Ending Explained: How Did Mohanlal’s Movie End?

Malaikottai Vaaliban has seemingly left many cinephiles speechless. The movie marks the first project of Lijo Jose Pellissery and Mohanlal and features a unique story. While many are hooked on the movie, some have criticized it for its theme. However, many liked the film’s cliffhanger ending as it left them wondering what had happened. Here is the film’s ending explained in detail.

Malayalam star Mohanlal is known for picking up the most unique scripts and acting accordingly. Throughout his career, the actor has played various roles and left his fans in awe of his skills. Before Malaikottai Vaaliban, the actor played the lead role in the courtroom drama Neru. The film received critical acclaim and kept the audience engaged.

In Malaikottai Vaaliban, Mohanlal took up the role of an undefeated aged warrior who travels to different locations and challenges warriors into a fight. He traveled with his mentor Ayyanar and his son Chinnappaiyyan, who plays drums during fights.

During one of his expeditions, Vaaliban reaches Adivaarithur, where he defeats a champion and wins his house and wife as a customary practice. he then encounters a beautiful and mesmerising dancer Rangapattinam Rangarani. When he reaches a new village named Nooraanathalayur, his life takes a drastic turn as he meets Chamanthakan. When Vaaliban has a clash with Chamanthakan, the latter invites him to a fight. Despite Chamanthakan’s family’s tactics, Vaaliban defeats him and strips him of his honor. However, Chamanthakan does not accept his defeat and embarks on a journey to kill Vaaliban.

What happens at the end of Malaikottai Vaaliban?

Further in Malaikottai Vaaliban, Mohanlal’s Vaaliban returns to his home village to challenge the Spanish fighter king. While he prepares for the fight, Chamanthakan poisons him and leaves him temporarily blind. Despite the challenges, Vaaliban miraculously defeats the Spanish and takes over their reign. He liberates the slaves of his village from Spanish rule following his undefeated spree.

The story does not end here. Amid the victory, Chinnappaiyyan is found murdered which leads to Vaaliban and Ayyanar turning against each other. As a result, Ayyanar pledges to seek revenge on Vaaliban and crosses paths with Chamanthakan. When the two share a drink, Ayyanar reveals that Vaaliban is the son of his mutant fighter rival and his ex-wife. When the two had a baby, Ayyanar murdered his ex-wife and abducted the baby. He intended to train him to defeat his biological father. However, in the end, Ayyanar poisons Chamanthakan and wanders into the desert.

By the end of the film, it is revealed that the movie will have a sequel. Seemingly, much like other directors, Lijo Jose Pellissery has also turned his film into a franchise. He will continue to narrate Malaikottai Vaaliban’s story in the upcoming installment. However, details about the sequel are currently under wraps.
