Merry Christmas box office collection: Katrina Kaif’s movie earns $156 thousand on day 5
On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, Merry Christmas managed to collect $138 thousand net in Hindi, marking a low point in its box office collection so far. The total domestic collection for the Katrina Kaif-starrer now stands at $1.52 million net. Despite the initial positive buzz, the movie seems to be struggling to attract a larger audience.
However, the film has fared slightly better on the global stage, with a total worldwide box office collection of $2.1 million. On the whole, the majority of earnings, $1.8 million (gross collection), can be attributed to its domestic box office performance. The overseas market contributed $303 thousand to Merry Christmas’ global earnings.
Moreover, the fifth day witnesses a 10.25% Hindi occupancy for Merry Christmas, with specific regional variations. In Mumbai, the movie had 342 shows running with a 10.75% occupancy, while in Delhi and the NCR region, 479 shows recorded a 9.50% occupancy. Additionally, Vijay Sethupathi’s movie has found success in South Indian states, particularly in Tamil Nadu. It had occupancy stood at 26.04%.
Director Sriram Raghavan, known for his unique storytelling, expressed his thoughts on the film as well. He stated, “Merry Christmas is a very different film from anything I have made in the past. At the core of this film is a relationship that develops between two strangers over the course of one night. There’s a crime involved, of course, but sometimes one can live a lifetime in one night.”
As it is now, while Merry Christmas has received widespread acclaim, the box office suggests a challenging journey ahead.
