The popular talk show returned for its eighth season on Disney+ Hotstar in October 2023, offering an intimate glimpse into the lives of Bollywood stars. Sharmila Tagore cancer: Actor gives health update on Koffee With Karan season 8
In the episode, Sharmila Tagore and Saif Ali Khan talked about their family and careers, further sharing some fun anecdotes about their relationship. The veteran actress also revealed about getting diagnosed with cancer but kept the details a secret.
Karan Johar shared he had offered her a role in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaan, but she had to turn it down. He said, “I had offered Sharmila ji the part played by Shabana (Azmi) ji in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. She was my very first choice. Due to health reasons at that time, she couldn’t say yes, but it is a regret I have.”
Sharmila Tagore expressed her regret for not accepting the role but hopes to collaborate with the filmmaker in the future. The actress added, “This is at the height of Covid. They hadn’t really grappled with Covid at that time. They didn’t know about the vaccine, we were not vaccinated. You know, (it was) after my cancer. So, they didn’t want me to take that risk.”
