Exclusive Clip: Awesome Slasher, CUB

Out this August in the U.S. from Artsploitation—and July 31^st in the UK/Ireland from Altitude—is acclaimed neo-slasher, Cub. The stylish, brutal Belgian horror film from director Jonas Goevarts blends killer kid with wilderness slasher for a lean, nasty piece of work set to the sounds of Steve Moore (Zombi, Adam Wingard’s The Guest). Shock Till You Drop presents an exclusive clip from the film, an anticipatory look at what lurks out in the forest.

A hit from Toronto’s Midnight Madness to Fantastic Fest and beyond, the Flemish-language Cub “follows 12-year-old outcast Sam who, along with his troop of cub scouts and their teenage supervisors, camp in woods rumored to house a mysterious and deadly werewolf. Inquisitive Sam, certain the woods are inhibited by something evil, soon stumbles upon a feral young boy and, eventually, his evil psychopathic mentor. But convincing the others of the danger falls on deaf ears, and soon ingenious traps begin to take their violent toll on the group.”

Cub is something atypical: a successful, mean slasher, with terrific kills and atmosphere (thanks to stunning locale). The film is out August 18^th on DVD, Blu and VOD from Artsploitation. To echo the hype, it comes highly recommended.
