Having already appeared in the previous four seasons of the FX series, EW reports that Lily Rabe will return for “American Horror Story: Hotel,” the fifth season in the anthology series.
The outlet reports that Rabe will play the role of a serial killer who stays at the hotel, though no other details are given. Rabe’s previous roles in the series include socialite turned ghost Nora Montgomery in the inaugural season, Sister Mary Eunice in “Asylum” and most recently “Freak Show,” and the backwoods necromancer Misty Day in “Coven.
Rabe joins a cast that includes other returning members Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Matt Bomer, Sarah Paulson, Chloë Sevigny Wes Bentley and Evan Peters; plus series newcomers Cheyenne Jackson and Lady Gaga.
Series co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed the seasons will only grow more connected as they continue (E.g. Pepper and Sister Mary Eunice from “Asylum” appearing in “Freak Show”) and that “characters from previous seasons will check into the hotel.”
Its based in the hotel in horror movies and horror tropes,” Murphy said of the season. “Weve researched several real-live hotels in downtown LA where absolutely horrifying things happened. Murder House [American Horror Storys first season] I thought was a very primal season because everybodys great fear is about the bogeyman under the bed in their house, and this feels similar to me in that when you check into a hotel, there are certain things beyond your control. Other people have the keys to your room; they can come in there. Youre not exactly safe, its a very unsettling idea.
“American Horror Story: Hotel” premieres in October on FX.
