The Strain, the FX vampire series based on a trilogy of novels by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, returns this July. Following the official Season Two trailer comes an extended first look, a featurette with new footage and new light on Season Two’s creature feature journey.
The Strain, Season Two, picks up with New York City falling and the ensemble of survivors struggling for control of the city and against the spread. Cast members David Bradley, Kevin Durand, Ruta Gedmintas, Mia Maestro and Corey Stoll all weigh in on the plight, as does showrunner/executive producer Carlton Cuse. The most interesting stuff is what’s on display. Having seen little of The Strain, I’m wildly enticed by the colorful, pulpy, creature-oriented imagery. Feels like I just might be missing out.
