With Watts and McGregor
Summit Entertainment has acquired distribution rights to The Impossible, starring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. Filming will start this August in Alicante, Spain, and move to Thailand in October.
The film, based on a true story during the 2004 tsunami in Thailand, will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona from a script by Sergio G. Sanchez. Bayona and Sanchez previously teamed for The Orphanage. Belen Atienza, López Lavigne and Ãlvaro Augustin are producing.
Bayona and Sanchez teamed up for 2007’s The Orphanage and have been developing a number of projects since then. We’re not certain if Impossible falls into the horror genre, but we’ll keep you posted.
