Kaya Scodelario, who was terrific on UK series Skins and in Andrea Arnolds exhilarating Wuthering Heights, is primed to tear up Tiger House, a new home invasion film which finds the actor playing a resourceful young woman trapped in a home invasion.
Directed by Thomas Daley, Tiger House sees a heist turn into a home invasion. With shades of Youre Next, it seems Scodelarios character has a certain set of unexpected skills. Not only that, shes fighting for two.
In the film, troubled teenager Kelly sneaks into her boyfriend Marks house to deliver some sobering news: shes pregnant. But tonight, shes not the only unwelcome visitor: an armed gang breaks in. Marks father Doug manages a cash depot and the gang plan on using Dougs help to carry out a daring heist using his captive family as leverage. Their plan quickly unravels when during the ensuing struggle, the gangs leader Shane gets injured and is left on Marks bed fading in and out of consciousness. Unbeknownst to the intruders, a terrified and vulnerable Kelly is only inches away under the very same bed. From her cramped hiding position, Kelly overhears everything and now knows too much, putting her life in terrible danger. Now, Kelly must draw on all her reserves of strength and her skills of dexterity, to escape. As the situation spirals out of control, the suburban house becomes a terrifying arena for violence. Faced with no alternative, she must turn and fight back.
Tiger House is set for an August 24th release in the UK. Magnolia/Magnet is releasing in the U.S. this October. Empire premiered the trailer.
