Young filmmaker Mickey Keating, whose sci-fi tinged Pod just premiered at SXSW, sets his sights on survival horror in the upcoming Carnage Park, now set to star Ashley Bell (The Last Exorcism), Pat Healy (Cheap Thrills), Darby Stanchfield (Scandal) and Alan Ruck (Ferris Buellers Day Off).
Set in the late 1970s, Keating previously told Shock it tells the story of a bank heist gone awry. Two low-level crooks take a hostage and drive deep into the desert, where they end up in Carnage Park, an isolated stretch of land occupied by a psychotic ex-soldier who hunts people with a high powered sniper rifle. Its set almost entirely over the course of one brutal day.
Keating added, I want Carnage Park to be an unflinching, pulpy homage to the gritty crime films of the 1970s, like Peckinpahs The Getaway,Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia, and Campaniles Hitch Hike and also survivalist films like Deliverance, Escape 2000, The Running Man and of course The Most Dangerous Game.
Eric B. Fleischman and Sean Tabibian and their Diablo Entertainment produce. Carnage Park gets underway in Los Angeles this month.
