If youve seen last years nutty little Brooklyn horror-comedy Summer of Blood, or any of its post-film Q&As, you might know writer-director-actor Onur Tukel as the loquacious type. Surprise, his tendency to essay characters which go on and on, possibly to their own detriment, is on full display in the first clip from his new feature, Applesauce.
World Premiering at this weeks Tribeca Film Festival in New York City (Summer of Blood did the same in 2014), Applesauce sees Tukel reteam with Dark Sky Films for the tale of Ron Welz. After he confesses the worst thing he’s ever done to a radio talk show host, Rons past starts catching up to him and someone starts sending him body parts. Who is tormenting him? There are eight million people in New York City, and everyone’s a suspect.
Applesauce stars Tukel, Trick r Treats Dylan Baker, Trieste Kelly Dunn and Max Casella. The film world premieres Sunday, April 19. For tickets and full screening info, visit Tribeca.
