Acclaimed out of last fall’s Toronto International Film Festival, Adam MacDonald’s Canadian survival horror Backcountry hits this spring from IFC Midnight.
Starring Missy Peregrym, Jeff Roop and Eric Balfour, Backcountry finds “a hyper-busy executive (Peregrym) and her boyfriend head into the woods for a weekend retreat from big-city pressures but after an unsettling encounter with a stranger, they find themselves at the mercy of nature’s tooth and claw.” The film has been praised for both its intense nature and beautiful lensing of Canadian landscape. It’s likely a treat on the big screen, so hopefully you can catch its limited release from IFC Midnight (both select theaters and VOD) on March 20th. [Fangoria]
