In THR’s article, Refn stated: One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty. After making Drive and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of The Neon Demon.
Invoke that demon, I say!
Rein’s work has always caught my interest. Beyond Drive, Valhalla Rising is a remarkable piece of work and I think Only God Forgives will continue to find its audiences now that people know it’s nothing like Drive. And the fact that he has proven to be a horror fan excites me (he’s producing a Maniac Cop redo that was scripted by Ed Brubaker).
The Neon Demon will see him reunite with composer Cliff Martinez.
More details as they come in!
