The Evil Within centers on veteran detective Sebastian Castellanos, who while investigating a mass murder crime scene, is drug into a supernatural cat and mouse game with evil.
To celebrate the release of this years most terrifying game, Shock is taking a look at 5 of the best head-tripping cat and mouse serial killer films out there. These films took us to a dark place and we definitely needed a shower after.

THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (1991)
There is a serial killer (Buffalo Bill, as played by Ted Levine) on the loose who is carving up large women.
His goal: To make a woman suit to complete his transformation into the fairer sex. To catch this psychopath, Special Agent Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) must enter a mental institution to get help from Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a brilliant forensic psychiatrist whose also happens to be a cannibalistic killer.
Her journey to catch a killer leaves her emotionally vulnerable as Dr. Lecter tears down her defenses and gets inside her head, rebuilding the young F.B.I. Agent in his own image.

Agoraphobic criminal psychologist Helen Hudson (Sigourney Weaver) is lured into active duty by a police detective (Holly Hunter) to help catch a killer who is emulating famous serial killers.
The Hillside Strangler, David Berkowitz, Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy’s crimes are replicated down to the finest detail, creating an eerie living portrait of days gone by.
The murders drag the two further into darkness as they struggle to find the man behind it all.

FROM HELL (2001)
A series of brutal murders in London’s East end catch the attention of Frederick Abberline (Johnny Depp), a police inspector in the Whitechapel district.
Using Opium as a trigger, Abberline has visions that point him to a twisted conspiracy that gets darker and more evil with every murder.
The killer is dubbed Jack the Ripper and once he begins sending body parts to the police department, there is no turning back and Abberline will risk everything to stop the killings.
As the murders increase and become more graphic, Abberline heads further down the macabre rabbit hole.

MANHUNTER (1986)
FBI Agent Will Graham (William Peterson) is on edge after suffering a nervous breakdown at the hands of Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Brian Cox).
When a brutal series of new family orientated crimes begins, Graham is called back.
Bodies are found displayed in “normal” poses and pieces of broken mirrors are inserted into the victim’s eyes. The murder is dubbed “The Tooth Fairy” (Tom Noonan) because of the unusual bite marks found on the victims.
Each murder pushes him closer to the edge and when he must visit Lector in an institution, he begins to slip.
The murders take Graham into a dark place that he may not return from.

David Mills (Brad Pitt) is a new detective in an urban nightmare. He is a simple country man with a wife and two dogs.

He leaves clues for the detectives that lure them into his web of madness.
The crime scenes become more and more dangerous as the killer begins to toy with the police detectives, leading to a showdown where no one may make it out in one piece.
