Sony Pictures has, according to Deadline, secured a new spec script today with In the Deep. Hailing from scribe Tony Jaswinski, the thriller is teased by the outlet as “‘127 Hours’ meets ‘Jaws'” and is said to offer a protagonist in form of a woman in her 20s and an antagonist in the form of a great white shark.
The story takes place on a remote beach where the lead, having just lost her mother, is surfing. Her world soon turns to terror, however, when she finds herself just 60 feet from shore with a great white shark in the water below her.
Lynn Harris is attached to produce In the Deep alongside Matti Leshem.
It sounds like this one might move forward at the studio rather quickly, so check back for additional information as it becomes available.
