The trailer for the latter hit the web this morning, give us a first look at the new film starring Jennifer Lopez that’s directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious). Written by Barbara Curry, the film also stars Ryan Guzman, John Corbett and Kristin Chenoweth.
This one is described as “a psychological thriller that explores a forbidden attraction that goes much too far.” Strangely, it looks – beat for beat – like Missionary which is hitting theaters October 31st. Except Lopez isn’t being pursued by an insane Mormon.
Then again, we’re talking about a spin on the whole Fatal Attraction and Single White Female thing and we’ve seen this happening for a long time now… I’m more interested in exploring why we’re seeing the return of stalkers in cinema these days.
Cohen’s last two credits include Alex Cross and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. He was shepherding a redo of The Monster Squad but that has reportedly been crushed. So, there’s some good news.
The Boy Next Door hits on January 23, 2015.
