Led by Sharknado 2: The Second One, Syfy announced their “Sharknado Week” (July 28-August 3), soared 80 percent among Adults 18-49, 74 percent in Adults 25-54 and 73 percent among total viewers, compared to summer to date (May 26-July 27).
The reach for the eight “Sharknado” franchise (Sharknado and Sharknado 2) airings hit 18.2 million total viewers, with the reach for the entire week of shark-infested programming reaching 25.8 million. Following Sharknado 2‘s record-setting 3.9 million total viewers premiere on Wednesday, July 30 at 9PM (ET/PT), repeats of the movie devoured 1.8 million victims on July 30 at 11PM, 2.3 million on Saturday, August 2 at 7PM and 1.5 million on Sunday, August 3 at 9PM.
Roger Corman’s Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda — featuring a cameo by Conan O’Brien — premiered on Saturday, August 2 at 9PM with 2.0 million total viewers, 760K Adults 18-49 and 831K Adults 25-54. For the week, Syfy was the #3 ranked prime cable entertainment network among Adults 18-49 (665K), #4 among Adults 25-54 (739K) and #5 among total viewers (1.7 million). Sharknado 2 will encore next Wednesday, August 13 at 9PM, with Sharknado 1 kicking off the night at 7PM.
Sharknado 3, meanwhile, has been scheduled for a premiere in July of 2015.
