Disney’s Hocus Pocus has quite the cult following among horror fans, strangely. We ran a poll years ago asking our readers what films they cycle into their Halloween viewing slate through October and this film made the cut. There were rumors of a Hocus Pocus 2 back in 2012, but Disney denied all of that then. There has been renewed buzz, which started in April, but we ignored it then figure it was more rubbish.
Tracking Board is insisting it’s happening, and it is gaining some momentum.
According to that spot, Tina Fey’s Little Stranger production outfit and Allison Shearmur Productions are on board to produce. The site says…
The sequel will pick up years after the original, focusing on a housewife who is related to the Sanderson sisters, who teams up with a witch hunter to save her children after they run afoul of some resurrected witches while out trick-or-treating.
The original was directed by Kenny Ortega and written by Mick Garris and Neil Cuthbert. Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy starred.
