We’ve known one was in the works and, today, Paramount Pictures has hired The Impossible and The Orphanage helmer Juan Antonio Bayona to direct the sequel, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Brad Pitt will again star and produce the sequel to this summer’s release, which earned an impressive $540 million worldwide.
The film, which was directed by Marc Forster and based on the novel by Max Brooks, took in $202.4 million domestically and $337.6 million overseas. The trade adds that no writers are attached at this stage.
The studio has not set a release date yet.
