For this year’s AFI Fest 2013, the Grindhouse Film Festival will be hosting two screenings of director Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno, a tribute to the 1970’s and 80’s Italian cannibal films from such directors as Ruggero Deodato and Umberto Lenzi.
All regular screenings at the AFI Fest are free, but to guarantee admission please get your advance tickets online or at the AFI box office as detailed inside. Note that as a free event there are often many no-shows for screenings, so even if these screenings sell out you could probably show up to the screening and get in – but try for advance tickets first!

THE GREEN INFERNO (2013, USA/Chile) [103 min.]Directed by Eli RothStarring Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Magda Apanowicz, Aaron Burns, Ignacia Allamand and Magdalena ApanowiczSeeking to make a difference in the world, a group of college students sets out for the Amazon jungle to undertake an act of environmental protest. They are scared of being labeled eco-terrorists but when their trip goes awry and the students fall into the hands of a cannibalistic native tribe, they soon discover there are much scarier things than government watch lists. A loving tribute to the lurid cannibal films of the 70s and 80s, THE GREEN INFERNO raises the stakes of modern horror. As he did with previous films such as CABIN FEVER and HOSTEL, Eli Roth continues to push the boundaries of good taste and the tolerance of audiences around the world. He steps up his game here considerably in terms of production values as well as the intensity of his bone-chilling imagery. An unforgettable waking nightmare, THE GREEN INFERNO is one of the most thrilling rides in theaters this year.Friday, November 8, 11:59 p.m., Chinese 1Tuesday, November 12, 9:45 p.m., Chinese 1
