There was word that Smith would be approaching Quentin Tarantino for a part. Alas, Tarantino has passed on the offer to act in the film, according to Smith in a “guest blog” at THR.
Smith reveals he wanted Tarantino to play a detective opposite stars Justin Long and Michael Parks.
“QT said he dug the script and couldn’t wait to watch Parks let loose his internal Kraken, but he had no interest in acting at the moment.”
Apparently, Blumhouse Productions was involved, too, but no longer. Smith has found financing, however, and filming is now expected to begin in early November. For the detailed account of Smith’s journey in pre-production, click on the aforementioned blog link above.
