Take Your Daughter to Work Day has never been quite so involved, but Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp are the beneficiaries of their famous dads after being cast as the leads alongside Johnny Depp in Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers, which The Hollywood Reporter has the first pic from. Reprising their Eh-2-Zed convenience store employee characters from Smith’s Tusk, the younger Smith and Depp will try to defeat some form of evil rising from beneath Canada’s crust using “all seven chakras, one Warrior Pose at a time.” Sounds like Kevin Smith has created some new form of Yoga-Fu.
“Their onscreen chemistry comes courtesy of a lifelong friendship: Harley and Lily have known each other since first grade,” Smith says. “Acting is a job of making choices, and Harley and Lily were making their own character and delivery choices from day one on the flick. At one point, I pulled them both aside to ask, ‘You are making excellent choices without me saying anything. What adult is telling you to do these things behind my back?’ The girls said they’d simply learned to act from watching movies and TV shows their whole lives. But in their case, acting and goofing around is in their blood. And it was thrilling to watch them both take their first steps in what’s bound to be a lifelong passion for performance.”
The second entry in Smith’s Canada-centric “True North Trilogy,” Yoga Hosers follows the adventures of two 15-year-old girls, Colleen Collette (Depp) and Colleen McKenzie (Smith) who go into battle after an ancient evil returns, teaming with a Montreal legend, Guy Lapointe (the elder Depp) for a Yoga-infused offense.
Yoga Hosers will also star Ralph Garman, Justin Long, Harley Morenstein, Michael Parks, Genesis Rodriguez and Jennifer Schwalbach with new roles for Adam Brody, Austin Butler, Tony Hale, Natasha Lyonne, Jason Mewes and Tyler Posey.
