The story: Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters takes place 15 years after the siblings’ incident at the gingerbread house. The two are now specialized bounty hunters looking to put down the cackling black-hat set.
Thoughts: Judging by the previews, it looks a little too heavy on CGI and a little on the cheeky side. However, I feel inclined to give R-rated theatrical horror a chance, so as not to let it become extinct.

The Story: Twenty-six directors 26 ways to die! The ABCs of Death is perhaps the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived; featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the worlds leading talents in contemporary genre film. With each director assigned a letter of the alphabet, they were then given free rein in choosing a word to create a story involving a tale of mortality. Its an alphabetical arsenal of destruction orchestrated by some of the most exciting names in global horror.
Thoughts: Im a fan of anthology horror and I have a short attention span. My curiosity was piqued when I learned that Angela Bettis is directing one of the segments. I will also watch anything that Ti West is involved with, at least once. Color me interested.

The story: When a highly unusual zombie rescues a girl from imminent death, at the hands of his cohorts, their unlikely romance sets a chain of events in motion that will transform him his fellow dead, and maybe even the whole lifeless world.
Thoughts: Im torn on this one. The concept is original. However, the PG-13 rating makes me nervous that it will be too light on gore and too heavy on the romance element for a zombie film. I will say, however, that Im cautiously optimistic.

The Story: Shortly after moving into their ideal new home, a couple grows concerned when their young daughter begins encountering mysterious strangers that no one else can see. The couple’s greatest fear is realized when they themselves begin to witness terrifying phenomena in and around the house, providing clues that could unlock a chilling mystery that has remained a closely guarded secret for generations.
Thoughts: The original made over $50 Million domestically. Im left wondering why the sequel is getting a VOD/Limited theatrical launch. That isnt a good sign. But, I was a fan of the original, so Im keeping an open mind.

The Story: A suburban couple’s lives become a nightmare when a terrifying alien presence enters their home each night to prey upon their children. Increasingly isolated from skeptical friends and neighbors, the couple is forced to take matters into their own hands to save their family.
Thoughts: The trailer looks sufficiently creepy and its being made through Blumhouse Productions, the company responsible for Insidious and Sinister, so my hopes are high. Its been a long time since Ive had a good scare. Im hoping Dark Skies will deliver.
