New Line has set a release date for the latest film from James Wan (Insidious). The Conjuring (aka The Warren Files, we’re not certain which title the film will officially go out with yet) is set to open in theaters on January 25, 2013. That gives the film a bit of distance from Lionsgate’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, opening on January 4th.
Scripted by Chad and Carey Hayes, Wan’s new supernatural thriller stars Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Mackenzie Foy, Joey King, Hayley McFarland, Joe Bishara and Shanley Caswell.
The film takes place in the 1970s and is based on the book House of Darkness, House of Light: The True Story by Andrea Perron. In the 1970s, the Perrons lived in a Rhode Island home that was claimed to have been a portal for friendly and evil spirits.
Livingston and Taylor will play a couple living in the house, which comes under investigation by Farmiga and Wilson’s supernatural investigators, Lorraine and Ed Warren.
