Comic-Con 2012: Live Blogging from the Dexter Season 7 Panel

Michael: There are many resaons why people like him, but we all have a dark side. Maybe we admire him for the unique responsibility he has taken.

Yes. We will see flashbacks and we will see him in Dexter’s subconscious.

Tyler Doupe: Jennifer Carpenter says her character has never been so uncertain. She is trapped in her fu**ing head.

Tyler Doupe: Dexter as a father will continue to be a theme throughout the new season, says Hall. Deb now has a sense of what she is dealing with, now. Dexter now has someone making him face up to what he is trying to do as a parent.

Michael Hall: Trinity. That was the most prolific person he had killed at the time.

As much as you have to get ‘in’ to charcter, you also have to get ‘out’ of character.

Tyler Doupe: The role is now instinctual for him. it used to be more difficult to get in to charcter. now it is very natural.

Tyler Doupe: The writing team agrees that they enjoy writing all of the characters equally but that kill scenes are particularly fun to write.

Tyler Doupe: Jennifer’s first impression when she saw the script was that no network would put it on TV. She said she thought she would just be doing a pilot. 
 
Michael had similar opinions and was unsure about the role having just come off of SIX FEET UNDER where her also worked with dead bodies (in a different context, of course).

Says people come up to him and say “I have some people I want you to kill.”
