ShockTillYouDrop.com this week attended the New York Junket for Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and had a chance to talk with actors Benjamin Walker and Anthony Mackie, who play Abraham Lincoln and his childhood friend Willie Johnson, whose fight with racism has such a lasting impact on the future President, as well as Bekmambetov, author/screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith and producer Tim Burton. Rufus Sewell and Dominic Cooper play two vampires on different sides of the battle in which Lincoln gets caught up in, while Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays his wife Mary Todd Lincoln.
Most of the exclusive video interviews below are with Seth, Timur, Benjamin and Anthony talking about the strange mash-up of sensibilities in making a historic period film and then combining it with lots of vampire-fighting action sequences. We asked the actors what their reaction was when they first received the script with the title “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” because let’s face it, that title is quite an attention-grabber. Seth and Timur talked about the casting of Benjamin Walker, whose biggest thing before this movie was appearing on Broadway in the title role of “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” (which despite the title, has absolutely nothing to do with vampires). Benjamin and Anthony also talked about doing some of the crazy action scenes Timur is best known for.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opens nationwide on June 22nd and also be sure to check out the three-part motion comic, featuring three exclusive clips, here.
