Yep, and it has a festival premiere date
When I read “11/11/11 to Premiere at Big Bear Horror Film Festival” in my e-mail’s inbox, I immediately presumed it was Darren Bousman’s 11-11-11.
Nope. There’s another film out there, distinctly titled 11/11/11 and, yes, it’s making its debut next month. Read on.
Who says thereâs âsafety in numbers?â 11/11/11, director Keith Allanâs newest film, is already destined to become a horror classic. The feature, which opens nationally on November 1, makes its world debut a month early at the 2011 Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival. 11/11/11 screens at the Festivalâs Opening Night on Friday, September 30 at the Big Bear Performing Arts Center.
âWe are honored and thrilled to have Keithâs film make its debut here at the Festival,â said Christopher Gaida, Director of Programming. âI know itâs going to be well-received and will set the dark, creepy tone we love to have over this horror weekend. I have goose bumps already!â
Not be confused with director Darren Lynn Bousmanâs thriller 11-11-11, Allanâs film revolves around the bizarre and violent behavior of a young coupleâs son, who is apparently the gateway to the Apocalypse, which will happen on the childâs November 11, 2011 birthday. Allan also co-wrote the chilling script with Kiff Scholl. Midnight Movie (2008) alum Jon Briddell stars, with David Michael Latt, David Rimawi and Paul Bales producing.
âAfter busting our collective a**es to get this movie done, it is very satisfying to know that we will be screened for an audience that has a passion for the genre,â said Allan of his decision to premiere his film at the Festival. âI personally was drawn to the Festival because of the location. I mean really…short of screening in a dark mid-century castle…deep in the woods is probably the best place to tell a horror story. It really is where the horror story originated…around the fire with the unseen eyes watching you from the dark surrounding woods, super aware of every snap of a twig around you…thrilling. I hope we are able to recapture some of that good old-fashioned fun and fright in the dark of the night.â
An added attraction to the Festival, the 11/11/11 screening package is $15 and includes a free pre-screen wine-and-cheese reception, the film, Q&A with the cast and crew, and an after-party at AV Nightclub. Festivities begin at 8 pm with the film bowing at 9 pm. The event is included for All Access pass holders. To add a Friday Night Pass for the 11/11/11 premiere, visit the Festivalâs website. Still no word yet as to when Bousman’s 11-11-11 is hitting (it was presumably November 11), but we haven’t heard anything official yet.
