Bits ‘n Bloody Pieces is a quick look at stuff we might have missed, viral-related promotions or light newsy bites that are easy to digest.

With the Cannes Film Festival upon us, and the sales market that comes with it, we’ve been inundated with project updates.

Got something weird, or a news nugget, to share that fits in with B’nBP? Send it on over to TO ME RIGHT HERE.

• Black Film posted the first image from the Halle Berry-starring thriller Dark Tide, which find the actress playing a shark expert (say wha..?) who can connect with the dangerous creatures. The film was written by Amy Sorlie, a journalist and accomplished shark diver in her own right. John Stockwell (Turistas) directs. You’ll find a full synopsis in this previous news item.

• South Korea’s Sector 7 has an official teaser trailer. The creature feature opens overseas this summer.

• Warp Films is developing a film called Numbers. Paul Fraser is adapting from a novel by Rachel Ward. Screen Daily got the scoop and says it’s “about a young woman who sees the dates of strangers’ deaths.”

• Mondo and the Alamo Drafthouse are making Sledgehammer (the ’80s slasher flick) available on – get this – VHS under the new Mondo Video line. Details right here.

• In anticipation of its Cannes premiere, a clip from Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia was release.

• Sales art for the upcoming Dark Peak. Shock first told you about this title right here. Click on the link for more details.

• The Valley of the Gwangi (cowboys ‘n dinosaurs!) is getting the Mondo Tees poster treatment. Get a peek at what will go on sale tomorrow (Thursday, May 12) right here.

• Severin Films has marked June 28 as the day to give Bloody Birthday, Nightmares and The Baby their DVD debuts.Bloody Birthday will come with a 50-minute interview with director Ed Hunt, a featurette with Lori Lethin and a “A Brief History of Slasher Films” featurette.

• Wesh Orlando spoke to Sarah Michelle Gellar who offered her thoughts on the announced Buffy the Vampire Slayer remake. “It was a movie. It’s been made. They made it. They don’t need to make another one,” she said, adding, “I think it’s a horrible idea. To try to do a Buffy without Joss Whedon, I mean that’s, like, honestly, to be incredibly non-eloquent: that’s the dumbest I’ve ever heard.”

• Vampires in Venice landed on our radar earlier this month. Now, we have a trailer.

• Ready for Sand Sharks? The Mark Atkins-directed creature feature stars Corin Nemec, Brooke Hogan, Vanessa Evigan, Eric Scott Woods and Gina Holden. The film is exactly what you would expect it to be about.
