Bits ‘n Bloody Pieces is a quick look at stuff we might have missed, viral-related promotions or items that do not necessarily warrant their own news item.

• Joe Lo Truglio, seen in the upcoming Paul (and former contributor to The State), teases ComingSoon.net that he’s embroiled in a new horror project.

“I’m actually working on a project now that’s short animated horror fairy tales that I’m working on with a guy named Jeff Short. Yeah, I love drawing, I drew some stuff for “The State,” there was a cereal commercial where we spouted nonsense and things jump off the box, I drew those. I want to draw more, I’ve been fortunate enough to be busy with acting and other aspects of filmmaking, but I was drawing Bruce Lee and Stephen King portraits as a kid. I made my own comic called Crud Magazine that was very much like Mad. This was in 6th grade, and it had its own mascot, Melvin Crud, and the editor was Spencer Drool.”

• Phoebe Tonkin will join Thomas Dekker for Secret Circle, the new CW series from Kevin Williamson. Tonkin will be seen in Bait, the shark thriller starring Julian McMahon.

• Tricia Helfer tweeted the following image from the set of 17th Precinct the supernatural cop series in which the actress plays a witch. Here she’s joined by her Battlestar Galactica co-stars James Callis and Jamie Bamber. BSG‘s Ron Moore created the series.

• FearShop.com is working with UNICEF to contribute some of their proceeds to the crisis in Japan.

• BadAss Digest asks, Did you know Stallone was in a slasher film? The answer’s “yes,” but we’d rather forget about it. That shouldn’t stop you from reading Brian Collins’ essay of Eye See You, however.

• A crappy look at the first domestic TV spot for Scream 4.

• Everyone gets face time in the first batch of photos for The Bleeding House, a horror/thriller premiering at Tribeca. Access our gallery via this link.

Synopsis: Meet the Smiths—a family full of secrets who keep to themselves on a back road outside a small Midwestern town. In this visceral, tightly wound horror/thriller, their lives are shaken when a sweet-talking Texan arrives on their doorstep on a mission for retribution. Will he succeed in his goal to bleed them of their sins, or will the family’s haunted past prove to be even more deadly than he bargained for?

• Check out this awesome “old school” Alice Cooper CD collection.

• A peek at Rue Morgue issue #110 (April edition).

• Two After Dark Originals – Seconds Apart and Fertile Ground – hit DVD on May 24. Artwork for the former has changed from it’s theatrical one-sheet.

• I never shared this with Shock readers (although it’s been out there): Here’s some artwork I commissioned Tim Seeley (“Hack/Slash”) to do for the upcoming Scream documentary I directed called Still Screaming. It’s by no means the final DVD art, but just something fun I wanted to have available for fans later on. Release news is just around the corner.
