Bits ‘n Bloody Pieces Morning Edition: Ghostbusters, Ghost Rider 2, Supernatural

Haunted phone, Alice Cooper, DVD updates

Bits ‘n Bloody Pieces is a quick look at stuff we might have missed, viral-related promotions or items that do not necessarily warrant their own news item.

• Ivan Reitman spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his career. Naturally, Ghostbusters III was mentioned: “There’s a lot of talk about Ghostbusters III. And there’s a very good script that the other cast members have read and liked. We’re just waiting for Bill Murray to read it.” Same ol’ song and dance. Everyone’s waiting on Bill Murray. Wake us when some actually forward progress occurs on this project…

• Ring-ring! Who’s that? Oh, it’s the trailer for the Indonesian horror film Misteri Hantu Selular – which means Ghost Mysteries Mobile, a title that rolls off the tongue.

• Special features for the previously announced Blu-Ray release of The Dorm That Dripped Blood include an audio commentary with directors Jeffrey Obrow and Stephen Carpenter, interviews with composer Christopher Young and FX artist Matthew Mungle, theatrical trailers and reversible cover art. Synapse is distributing the film which is arriving for the first time in a never-before-seen director’s cut.

• Alice Cooper was inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame. Rob Zombie presented the honor. Cooper is preparing a sequel to his famous album “Welcome to My Nightmare” as we speak.

• The Anthony Hopkins-starring The Rite (review) will arrive on DVD and Blu-Ray May 17. Start practicing your rites of exorcism now and keep this evil away from your home.

• A lil’ Frankenstein street art found in Hollywood.

• Brian Taylor, co-director of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, told Movieline that the sequel does not ignore the first film, however, “We basically completely re-envisioned the whole start of the character, and actually had to re-engineer the origin of the Ghost Rider. The whole mythology behind the Ghost Rider that existed in the comic books never really made sense to me, so we sort of had to re-engineer the entire back-story of the Ghost Rider into something new.”

• EW learned that Momma Winchester is returning to a future episode of Supernatural. Star Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) says: “She comes back under some different circumstances. And whenever she shows her face – especially for Dean – it’s very difficult and very emotional.”

• Indie horror film Brad Dourif-starring Fading of the Cries has finally found distribution through Wrekin Hill Entertainment and NECA – yes, the popular collectible company is getting in on the distribution game.

• Showbiz Spy caught up to Courteney Cox and got her to comment on working with Neve Campbell again on Scream 4. The actress said, “I worked with her in the first three Scream movies and I liked her then but I really wasn’t close to her. We were nice to each other and we socialized a little bit, but for some reason Scream 4 — that’s when we clicked. I was like, ‘Oh my God I can’t believe I missed out on all these great years with you.’ She a really cool, soulful person and I’m so glad I got to know her during this one.”

• FX artist and director Olaf Ittenbach (House of Blood) helmed this music video for the band Godslave.

• Is The Walking Dead being converted to black and white to resemble its comic book counterpart? We’re told that’s possibly happening right now.
