Weekend Crunch: Drag, Another Dracula Movie, Wrong Turn 4

Human Centipede II and other news from around the web

The Weekend Crunch gathers news bites that we’ve either missed or break over, well, the weekend. It’s a quick read and easy to digest. Open wide!

• Badass Digest reports that Jaume Collet-Serra is at work on something called Bram Stoker’s Dracula Project (obviously a tentative title). It’s set up at Leonard DiCaprio Appian Way and was written by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy. Collet-Serra directed the upcoming Unknown as well as Orphan and House of Wax.

• Ready for another Wrong Turn? 20th Century Fox Home Video is, apparently. Bloody-Disgusting says that the studio is moving forward on a fourth entry with Declan O’Brien of Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead returning to the director’s chair. Right. Because that film turned out so well.

• Although I think it’s more news-worthy when we find out who will actually be writing The Walking Dead‘s second season, Deadline says Glen Mazzara has been hired to serve as Frank Darabont’s number two guy. He’ll now find five screenwriters to work on the show’s sophomore run.

• Danny Boyle’s UK stage interpretation of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” debuted last night at the National Theatre in London with Johnny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch starring.

• Who’s scoring The Human Centipede: Full Sequence? Tom Six has hired Psych 9‘s James Edward Barker, says The Playlist.

• Who would have thought? Screen Gems’ thriller The Roommate may be on track to win the weekend box office. It grossed an estimated $6.4 million on Friday night.

• Mark Pavia alerted us to his unseen short film Drag, which made its online debut over three chunks. This is the flick that garnered Stephen King’s attention and landed him the gig to direct The Night Flier. Mauro Fiore (Avatar) shot the film.
