Conflicting reports from the horror trenches
Following 2007’s 28 Weeks Later, rumors immediately began swirling that 28 Months Later would follow.
Director of the original film, Danny Boyle, while out promoting Sunshine some time ago, stated there were “ideas” for a third film. But things have been awfully quiet.
Now, a pair of conflicting reports have surfaced. The fellas at Dread Central are reporting that Danny Boyle is returning to the director’s chair for 28 Months Later. They don’t cite sources or reveal where they picked up on this tip, so you have to sort of take it for what it’s worth.
Alex Garland, however, offered something a bit more substantial. You might recall that he penned the first film and produced 28 Weeks Later. He tells Worst Previews: “When we made ’28 Days Later,’ the rights were frozen between a group of people who are no longer talking to each other. And so, [28 Months Later] is never going to happen unless those people start talking to each other again. There is no script as far as I’m aware.”
Danny Boyle is out promoting 127 Hours. If he is doing Months, it would be the first sequel he directs.
