The sequel currently in limbo
Everything seemed in place. A potential release date. A script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. So what happened with the sequel to last year’s Friday the 13th?
Last week, Platinum Dunes’ Brad Fuller dropped the bomb – although it came as no surprise to those following some of the insider rumblings – that Friday the 13th: Part 2 isn’t happening. Multiple sources gave us the dirt pointing much of this decision-making to business decisions and money, but we turned to Fuller himself who tells us, “There’s just no movement on it right now. Paramount and New Line are simply evaluating if they’re going to make it and that’s what’s happening.”
That said, where did the script turn? “Camp Crystal Lake was going to open, I can tell you that. And a portion of the movie did take place in the snow.”
There you have it Voorhees fanatics. While this doesn’t sound like the doom and gloom news you got last week, it doesn’t look like we’ll get to see Jason on the big screen as soon as we hoped.
