2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams U.S. Release News

Tim Sullivan’s gory sequel

Tim Sullivan’s Maniacs are on the move in a new sequel in more ways than one. 2001 Maniacs, his remake of the H.G. Lewis film Two Thousand Maniacs!, was released through Lionsgate Home Entertainment.

First Look Studios announced today that it has acquired the sequel 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams.

This time around the Southern residents of Pleasant Valley take their cannibalistic Guts N’ Glory Jamboree on the road to Iowa where they encounter spoiled Northern heiresses Rome and Tina Sheraton and the cast and crew of their “Road Rascals” reality show. Performing “The Bloodiest Show on Earth,” our Southern Maniacs prove to be more than ratings killers in what director John Landis calls “one of the rare sequels that surpasses the original.”

Steve Break, Vice President of Product, negotiated the deal on behalf of First Look Studios for 2001 MANIACS: FIELD OF SCREAMS with Yarek Danielak, managing director of Arsenal Pictures.

“This franchise’s rabid fan base makes this acquisition a no-brainer for First Look.  We are so excited to bring this installment of 2001 Maniacs to the fans!” says Break.

The film will have its US premiere at the Texas Frightmare Film Festival on April 29th at 9:00 PM at the Studio Movie Grill-Lewisville in Dallas, Texas. The Texas Frightmare Film Festival runs from April 28 through May 1.
