Following another sold-out weekend
The L.A. Times is reporting that after another terrific weekend of sell-out midnight shows in 33 locations, adding up to an astounding weekend take of $535 thousand, Oren Peli’s independently-made low budget horror film Paranormal Activity will be given a full theatrical release by Paramount Pictures on October 9 in all of the cities where it’s currently playing plus ten additional cities.
This means that you won’t have to stay up past midnight in order to see the movie for the first time since it opened for midnight screenings in select cities on September 25.
Apparently, Paramount’s unconventional marketing and distribution of the movie that reportedly cost $11,000 has successfully turned it into a buzz-worthy sleeper hit, and one can presume that its continued success could eventually lead to a nationwide release, or at least let’s hope so.
