Supernatural actor joins the remake
Jared Padalecki (“Supernatural”) is in final negotiations to star in Friday the 13th that Platinum Dunes is producing for New Line and Paramount, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Marcus Nispel is directing from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing.
Paramount released the original “Friday” in 1980, introducing horror icon Jason with a brief appearance. The new film will focus on the serial killer, who will wear his now-iconic hockey mask. Padalecki will play the lead, who investigates what happened up at Crystal Lake.
A release is planned for Friday, February 13, 2009.
