Diablo Cody horror-comedy shifts into casting overdrive
Actor J.K. Simmons is returning to Diablo Cody land. The Juno co-star (not to mention “Spider-Man” franchise staple) is set to star in Jennifer’s Body, written by Cody and directed by Karyn Kusama. He’ll play a high school science teacher. Meanwhile, Adam Brody (“The O.C.”) has also joined the cast and is taking a villainous turn as an evil rock star.
Described as similar in tone to “Heathers” and “Beetlejuice,” “Body” is the story of a cheerleader who is possessed by a demon and starts feeding off the boys in a Minnesota farming town. Her “plain Jane” best friend must kill her, then escape from a correctional facility to go after the Satan-worshiping rock band responsible for the transformation.
