Release date set for remake
Cue spit-take now. ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned Alexandre Aja’s next horror film, a remake of Joe Dante’s Piranha, is going to be presented in 3-D! Dimension Films has set a release date of July 24, 2009 – which positions it smack-dab in the middle of the summer movie season.
Directed by Aja and co-penned by Josh Stolberg, the plot crunch floating around now goes like this: A tremor causes Arizona’s Lake Havasu floor to open, setting free scores of prehistoric piranhas.
If it is indeed in 3-D, this fits right in with the “popcorn film” mentality Aja spoke of when we caught up to him last October.
