Movement on April Fool’s Day Remake

Muffy meets the Butcher Bros.

On the grand dartboard of ’80s horror films yet to be remade, April Fool’s Day has taken a hit. Bloody-Disgusting reports (and we can back up) the Butcher Bros. have been hired to write and direct an update of Fred Walton’s 1986 film for either Paramount Pictures or Columbia Tri-Star with Frank Mancuso Jr. returning to produce.

One can presume the brothers (also known as Mitchell Altieri and Phil Flores) ,who brought us the indie chiller The Hamiltons last November as part of the After Dark Horrorfest, are in the thick of development right now. Their challenge is no easy feat as some fans of the genre believe the original film’s arguably insulting conclusion brings down an already delicate house of cards.

The story is a simple one: a group of friends gather at a mansion on April Fool’s Day and start getting whacked one-by-one. Surrounded by death, Kit (played by Amy Steele) tries to get to the bottom of the murders and realizes her hostess, Muffy (Deborah Foreman), may not be all she appears to be.

Didn’t they already remake April Fool’s Day in Rogue Pictures Cry_Wolf? Some food for thought. More on this forthcoming remake soon!
