According to The Hollywood Reporter, Star Wars alum Kelly Marie Tran has been tapped to join the cast of Hulu’s forthcoming fantasy horror anthology series titled Monsterland. This marks Tran’s latest TV project after starring in Facebook Watch’s Sorry for Your Loss which was cancelled after two seasons. She was most recently seen in 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and is set to be featured in Universal’s upcoming animated sequel The Croods 2.
Tran will be appearing in an episode titled “Iron River, MI” where she will be portraying the role of Lauren. Her character is going back to her small hometown located in Michigan in order to be married. She had managed to build a new life for herself after her best friend, Elena, went missing when they were 16.

Based on the short stories from Nathan Ballingrud’s North American Lake Monsters, the series is a horror anthology which will follow the story of broken people driven to desperate acts in an attempt to repair their lives and will feature encounters with mermaids, fallen angels and a variety of other mythical creatures and horrors.
Monsterland will also be featuring Golden Globe nominee Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart, Unbelievable), Taylor Schilling (Orange Is the New Black), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and Jonathan Tucker (Westworld).
The 8-episode series is created, written and executive produced by Mary Laws (Preacher). It is a production by Annapurna TV with Ali Krug, Lucan Toh (Under the Shadow), Megan Ellison, and Sue Naegle serving as executive producers.
