The Telugu romantic comedy-drama Darling premiered in theaters on July 19, 2024, and garnered mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Now, the film is set for its OTT debut next week, promising to expand its reach to a wider audience.
Directed and written by Aswin Raam, Darling stars Priyadarshi and Nabha Natesh in the lead roles. Additionally, the supporting cast includes Ananya Nagalla, Brahmanandam, Moin, Shiva Reddy, Muralidhar Goud, Sunitha Manohar, Mullapudi Rajeshwari, Abhignya, Jeevan, Krishna Teja, and others.
Darling follows a young man who dreams of marrying a perfect girl and taking her to Paris for their honeymoon. Determined to make this dream a reality, he vows not to apply for a passport until he is married. However, after finding and marrying his ideal partner, he is confronted with the unexpected reality that his wife suffers from a split personality disorder. This condition means she has two or more personalities in the same body. Interestingly, each of her distinct personalities has its own name, history, and characteristics. Consequently, this leads to numerous complications in their relationship and his personal life.
When is Darling movie coming out for OTT?
Disney Plus Hotstar Telugu recently announced that Darling will be available for streaming starting August 13. The announcement on X (formerly Twitter) reads, “Gear up for a MADMAX Marriage Entertainer. Darling on Hotstar Streaming from 13th August only on #DisneyPlusHotstar.” However, it is important to note that the film will be available exclusively in Telugu, with no dubbed versions currently planned. Although the platform has not specified an exact streaming time, fans can expect the film to become available around midnight on August 12.
Despite a strong cast and potential, Darling did not meet audience expectations, particularly in its first half. One viewer expressed disappointment and wrote, “1st half Start slow, and So much of lag interval is good. 2nd half is also go same down of the graph pre-climax is good. Overall, the movie is a waste of time with nonlogic scenes. Heroine dubbing was not Good My rating for the movie is 2/5 only for Priyadarshi acting.”
