King Spawn Movie: Will Jeremy Renner Appear With Jamie Foxx?

Following a positive update on the reboot, there has been a rise in discussion around Jeremy Renner‘s involvement in the upcoming King Spawn movie. Recently, director Todd McFarlane revealed the official title for the Spawn sequel and confirmed the script’s completion. Following this, fans have been curious to know whether Renner will play Twitch Williams or will be replaced.

Is Jeremy Renner still attached to Jamie Foxx’s King Spawn movie?

In 2018, there were reports about Jeremy Renner’s official casting as Detective Twitch Williams. However, Renner’s involvement in King Spawn is not yet confirmed. This is because the movie’s script underwent many changes and faced delays since its announcement.

Recently, Jason Blum took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that the upcoming sequel is titled King Spawn and shared an image of the screenplay’s title page.

Last year, Blum also provided a confident update about the movie releasing sometime in 2025 in an interview with ComicBook.com. Additionally, he also revealed attaching a director and actor upon script completion.

“The update on Spawn is we’re very close to having a script that we’re all gonna feel great about. And once we have that, we’ll attach a director and an actor, and we’re gonna go make the movie,” he said. This indicates that there might be changes in the sequel’s casting. Nevertheless, the coming days will eventually reveal the official cast for King Spawn.

Spawn (1997) took inspiration from Todd McFarlane’s Image Comics character of the same name. Since its release, McFarlane planned to make a follow-up sequel, which has been in development for more than two decades. After years of discussions, he announced striking a deal with Blumhouse production at San Diego Comic-Con in 2017. In the following year, Renner and Jamie Foxx were announced to depict the main characters, Twitch and AI Simons, respectively.

Despite positive updates on the film’s development around 2018, Jason Blum soon dropped a disappointing update in 2020. He revealed that the Spawn sequel would ditch the previous script and proceed in a new direction in a conversation with Abu Dhabi Culture.

He explained that they wanted to get the script right and wanted it to be great. “So, we’re going to make the movie, definitely. I don’t know when we are going to make the movie. We are actually kind of re-tackling… We’re going down a different direction with the story than we had in the past, but we are not going to make the movie until that script is great. But one of these days, it will be great, and we will make it,” he added.

With the script now officially completed, plot and casting details can be expected soon.
