Mammootty’s Bramayugam is a standout black-and-white horror thriller. Released on February 15, 2024, the film centers around Thevan (Arjun Ashokan), who seeks refuge in an ancient mansion. However, the mansion is more than what it appears to be, and escaping it becomes impossible. “Once you step through the gateway of this mana (a Namboodiri mansion), it itself becomes the river, plains, and mountain,” the servant (Sidharth Bharathan) tells Thevan.

However, Thevan interprets it as the place’s vast expanse but soon realizes that isn’t the case. It is more of a warning about its inescapable nature. The mansion hides many secrets, with Mammootty’s character, Kodumon Potty, being its eerie, enigmatic presence. Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, the movie explores themes of survival and entrapment, creating a suspenseful atmosphere reminiscent of Maharaja.
