The ongoing wuxia Chinese drama Dashing Youth, starring Neo Hou and He Yu in the lead roles, released episode ten on July 22, 2024. As seen in the official trailer, the drama tells the heroic story of a young man named Baili Dongjun (Neo Hou) who attempts to establish himself as a skilled martial artist. Episode ten focuses on Dongjun trying to pass the preliminary examination.
In this episode, Yin Luoxi arrives at the Qianjin house, asking to play gamble. Her grand entrance catches everyone’s eyes but it appears that they are not pleased by her trying to show off her skills. Mr. Liuyue thinks he should summon Ruofeng to face such a skilled player from the academy, but Tu Zao stops him. Meanwhile, Tu Wan, the Vice Manager of the Qianjin House, is completely drunk and is carried back against his will.
When Luoxi invites Tu Wan to play against her, he refuses at first. But as soon as he recognizes how beautiful she is, he gets down from his seat to welcome her. After the game starts, Luoxi’s eyes fall on Dongjun and Ye Deng Zhi, who are sitting in the corner. She invites them to play along. Liuyue announces that if they manage to win, they will be considered to have passed the preliminary examination. But if they fail, they will have to give Tu Wan a portion of their liquor and meat.

Luoxi’s expertise impresses everyone at the Qianjin House. She can even produce Supreme Duo, a rare and legendary deck in gambling that can win against anything. But Tu Zao is sure that she cheated as no one is supposed to produce Supreme Duo when playing against Tu Wan. But he can not accuse her since he didn’t witness with his own eyes. Liuyue commends her as no one has ever managed to cheat in the Qianjin house, and she passed the preliminary examination.
Further into the episode, another strange person named Zhuge Yun enters the house. His magical formation makes people forget about their whereabouts. Liuyue acknowledges his talent, and he passes the examination on one attempt. Another contestant performs face-changing and passes the examination.
Did Neo Hou pass the preliminary examination?
After about 12 hours, Dongjun is finally done preparing his liquor. When the judges finally taste it, they praise Dongjun’s exceptional skills as a wine-maker. Tu Zao even tears up as the liquor reminds him of his mother.
Deng Zhi’s cooked lamb receives equal applause from the judges. When Dongjun takes a bite of it, he immediately recalls his childhood friend who prepared food the same way. In the end, both Dongjun and Dengzhi pass the preliminary examination.
Further into the episode, Dengzhi is seen visiting the Diaoulou Tavern to meet with Prince Qing in secret. They share a drink. The prince offers to give him whatever he wants if Dengzhi helps him achieve his goal. Dengzhi wishes to keep his demands secret until the job is finished. The prince agrees to his deal in advance.
What happens in Dashing Youth episode 10’s ending?
Dengzhi recalls when his father, General Ye Yu, was falsely accused of being a traitor. He was accused of being arrogant and joining hands with the enemy forces. They even planted fake evidence in his father’s residence. His entire family and clan members were executed. Dengzhi remembers that Prince Qing delivered the decree. He wants to avenge his family and find out why the prince thought Dengzhi would ask for the imperial jade seal.
