Episode 1 of the new horror-thriller Tarot debuted on U+ mobile TV on Monday, July 15, 2024. The episode titled “Santa’s Visit” stars Parasite actress Cho Yeo-Jeong as Ji-Woo, a hard-working mother who has been raising her young daughter alone.
The series chronicles seven different suspenseful stories where each protagonist will encounter a tarot card leading them to their painful fate. Tarot K-drama episode 1 showcases Ji-Woo mysteriously finding a card, “Wheel of Fortune: Opportunity and Luck,” in a shopping mall. She is happy to see the card as it is supposed to bring her good luck and opportunity. However, she does not know that her life is about to be hit by a tragedy because of the cursed tarot card.

Episode 1 of the Tarot K-drama begins with Ji-Woo spending time with her young daughter Min-A. The two seem to have a loving bond, and Ji-Woo profoundly cares for her daughter. Looking at the decorations at their house, it is evident that Christmas is just around the corner.
Ji-Woo, a single parent raising her daughter on her own, has to work hard to provide her daughter with a comfortable lifestyle. Just before Christmas, she goes shopping at a mall. While her daughter wants to buy a doll, Ji-Woo does not purchase it to save money. However, she mysteriously comes across a tarot card denoting “Wheel of Fortune: Opportunity and Luck” while putting the doll on the shelf. At the time, Ji-Woo does not realize that the card will turn her life upside down and bring immense tragedy.
What happens to Cho Yeo-Jeong’s daughter?
In Tarot K-drama episode 1, after Ji-Woo takes the card, a series of eerie events happen to her. She gets an opportunity to earn extra money by working at the mall on Christmas Eve. Her daughter Min-A is upset after learning that she has to be alone at home on Christmas day as her mother will be working.
During work, Ji-Woo video calls her daughter to check if she is alright and sees her wearing a special Christmas Eve outfit. However, she soon becomes anxious after realizing someone else is also holding the phone, so she rushes to get home. Ji-Woo even calls her daughter once again and screams at her. But after she arrives home, she does not find her daughter anywhere.
What happens at the end of Tarot episode 1?
At the end of episode 1 of Tarot K-drama, viewers see Ji-Woo finding a terrifying portrait while looking for Min-A at home. The portrait shows a monstrous creature wearing Santa’s clothes and holding a little girl’s hand. Moreover, the creature seems to be taking the girl with it.
She then goes on to find the clothes her daughter wore in the video call lying on the floor. Ji-Woo finds the storybook of Peter Pan, which she used to read to Min-A at bedtime, hidden under a piece of clothes. She opens the book to follow the story’s ending and sees that it is an unfortunate ending to the children’s story.
Ji-Woo suddenly remembers that no one was listening to her when she was shouting on the phone and the number she dialed did not exist. In a shocking turn of events, the episode reveals that Ji-Woo had lost her daughter Min-A a long time ago. Thus, she has been imagining the existence of her beloved daughter all this time. She finally realizes that Min-A is not there. The episode ends with Ji-Woo asking Min-A where she is.
