Will Kim Cattrall’s Samantha return for And Just Like That Season 3?
Kim Cattrall is not confirmed to return as Samantha Jones for And Just Like That Season 3.
In a June 2023 TODAY interview, Cattrall revealed she would not return for more episodes of And Just Like That. She further said she wouldn’t reprise her role of Samantha Jones. She said that the cameo appearance in the Season 2 finale was “as far as I’ll go”. However, she expressed her appreciation for her character, Samantha Jones. Furthermore, she claimed she was not ready to say “goodbye” to her.
As per Elle, Cattrall was rumored to have only done her two-minute cameo appearance in And Just Like That Season 2’s finale as a gift for fans of the franchise and only to mark the 25th anniversary of Sex and the City’s release.
In a 2022 Variety interview, Cattrall revealed that she did not like how Samantha’s storyline was playing out in the unproduced third film. It included the character receiving inappropriate pictures from Miranda’s son, Brady. Thus, it contributed to her decision of not wanting to reprise the role, adding that she was “done.”
Cattrall rose to fame playing Samantha Jones in HBO’s Sex and the City. The role garnered her critical acclaim, including a Golden Globe win, and became synonymous with her. Despite portraying one of the show’s core characters, Cattrall’s relationship with the series has been complicated. Thus at the time of writing, it is hard to tell if Cattrall will have a change of heart about returning in the reboot.
