Prabhas leads the cast of Kalki 2898 AD and plays the role of Bhairava. While many theories claim that Bhairava might be an avatar of Lord Vishnu, the film’s trailer teased that he is a superhero and a mercenary. During his recent appearance at a promotional event, the actor threw light on his character.
Per 123telugu.com, he said, “My character has a lot of grey shades. I will be seen as a superhero, and there is also a humor touch to it. Telugu audiences have seen me in roles like these before. But for non-Telugu audiences, this is the first time they will be watching me in a funny character with grey shades. I think this is the best character I have ever played in my life.”
Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama
Legendary Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan will play the immortal Ashwatthama, one of the most crucial characters in Kalki 2898 AD. The makers introduced his role with a separate teaser in which Ashwatthama could be seen ending his centuries-long meditation as the end of the world approached. Big B is seen in many action sequences throughout the film. He stands against Prabhas’ Bhairava and protects Deepika Padukone’s character.
Deepika Padukone as Sumati
Deepika Padukone is playing the female protagonist in Kalki 2898 AD. The posters of the film have confirmed that she is portraying Sumati. However, not much information regarding her role in the film has been given yet.
Kamal Haasan as Yaskin
Kamal Haasan is confirmed to play the lead antagonist of Kalki 2898 AD. While many theories have claimed that he is playing Kali, the makers recently announced that his character’s name is Yaskin. His unrecognizable look has ignited much excitement among fans.
Disha Patani as Roxie
On the occasion of Disha Patani’s birthday, the makers confirmed that she would portray Roxie in the film. Per the trailer, she is an ally of Prabhas’ Bhairava and will appear in several action sequences. It seems that she works with Bhairava and fights for money.
Keerthy Suresh as Bujji’s voice
While Keerthy Suresh will not appear in the movie, her voice is a part of it. Prabhas’ Bhairava has a special vehicle with an AI assistant, Bujji. Suresh has given her voice to Bujji. This is not the first time she has worked with director Nag Ashwin. The two collaborated earlier on the highly appreciated film Mahanti.
Saswata Chatterjee as Commander Manas
Saswata Chatterjee also plays one of the most crucial characters in Kalki 2898 AD. As the trailer has confirmed, the film is based in a dystopian city named Kashi. Another city, Complex, has all the planet’s resources, which the people worship and serve. Saswata plays one of the commanders of Complex, who protect and rule it. In the trailer, his character seems to be antagonistic in nature. However, more details will be revealed only in the film.
Shobana as Mariam
Veteran actress Shobana will play Mariam in the film. Yet again, details about her role are still under wraps. There are several other prominent stars who will appear in this much-anticipated film.
