Recently, Channing Tatum revealed the reason behind the cancellation.
If you’re interested to know the reason why the 23 Jump Street x Men in Black crossover was canceled, then stick around.
Why Channing Tatum’s 23 Jump Street and Men in Black crossover was canceled
According to Tatum, the Men in Black x 23 Jump Street idea never materialized because of a “lot of bureaucracy” and “above-the-line stuff” involved. Additionally, the infamous Sony Pictures’ hack of 2014 also seemingly played a significant role in its cancelation.
Nevertheless, Tatum who plays the lead role of Jenko in the franchise, still hopes for it to happen. In a recent conversation with Comic Book, while promoting his upcoming movie Fly Me to the Moon, he shed light on the crossover rumors. He revealed that he read the crossover’s script back then and believes it to be the “best.”
Tatum still remains enthusiastic about reuniting with Jonah Hill for a third movie and reprising his titular role. He added, “I would love to do it with Jonah, and Jonah I know wants to do it. We would love to just get to go play again.” However, a third installment seems impossible at the moment.
Sony’s infamous leak also served as a hindrance in the already confirmed MIB 23. This shocking hack breached confidential data regarding the company’s staff, salaries, future project ideas, and much more. The leaked conversations via email exposed a 23 Jump Street crossover idea alongside several projects, including James Bond’s Spectre screenplay and a Miles Morales concept. Due to the leak, the most anticipated crossover movie remained just an idea.
