Kourtney Kardashian startled her fans in September 2023 with an emergency fetal surgery. This was just two months before she welcomed her son Rocky with her husband, Travis Barker. In the recently released episode of The Kardashians Season 5, Kourtney dishes on the stressful experience and how it saved her baby.
Here is everything Kourtney Kardashian disclosed about the surgery.
What baby surgery did Kourtney Kardashian have?
Kourtney Kardashian divulged she had fetal surgery to prevent complications with her baby, Rocky’s birth.
Kourtney’s revelation came to light after the Season 5 premiere of The Kardashians Season 5, in which she appeared 31 weeks pregnant. As per E! News, in the episode, she shares how she and Travis had planned a scan of the baby at home. Kourtney said, “The doctor who will come to the house to do the scan is a high-risk doctor, who’s really detailed and thorough at looking for everything. And something caught his eye where he wanted me to see a couple specialists.”
The 45-year-old recalled she reached out to her mom, Kris Jenner to take her for the procedure as Travis was away on his Blink-182 tour. Further, she disclosed, “The timing of it was miraculous. That saved everything.”
“My doctor’s like, ‘There’s nothing that you did wrong. It’s not age-related. It’s just a super rare thing that happened,'” she continued.
Additionally, Kourtney said Travis Barker had to leave his tour early and tried to get updates on the fetal surgery. “The thing that was awful was his Wi-Fi was broken on the plane. I was sending him updates and my mom was sending him updates. He couldn’t get anything and he kept checking, like every two hours on the plane, ‘Can you reset the Wi-Fi?’
The eldest Kardashian sister had a strict bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy. She told the camera crew in the episode, “There’s a hole in the amniotic sac from where they had to go into the surgery. I’m really not leaving the house.”
Kourtney was grateful to the doctors after the fetal surgery and even had an emotional breakdown. She conveyed, “I just feel so grateful that how everything played out and for the doctors that really helped make the best decisions that really saved our baby.” Following the surgery, Kourtney and Travis welcomed their son, Rocky, in November 2023.
