Chapter 259 spoilers reveal that Sukuna’s powerful fire attack inside his Domain is the reason behind Choso’s death.
Before the fatal flames could reach Yuji, Choso made a barrier around him to protect him from the attack. This sacrifice resulted in Choso being burnt to a crisp, killing him.
In Choso’s last moments, he and Yuji are in their imaginary world. It’s now only the two of them sitting at a table. Previously, Eso and Kechizu were with them. They have a quick chat, where Choso commends Yuji for getting stronger and learning the Reverse Cursed Technique fast. Yuji says it’s because of Sukuna taking over his body, but Choso adds that little brothers are supposed to surpass their older brothers.
Yuji gets emotional, saying Choso can’t just leave. Choso apologizes for leaving Yuji alone again. Suddenly, Eso and Kechizu are looking for Choso.
Going back to reality, Choso’s last words were filled with gratitude for Yuji and he thanked him for becoming his brother.
